Remember what I said about 15 year-olds acting like adults in every way? Look at these stories! Here our dear Day and June are only twelve and the story is just the same. Day is desirable by older girls, one of them even stole a kiss from him... okay, let's be honest, she forced him to kiss her! He's already a big deal in a criminal world and the most handsome rough sleeper in the city (or in the country!). Dirty clothes and bad breath? Who caaares. June is a bit closer to reality, but not so much. Too Mary Sue-ish, to karate-kid-ish, too everything-ish.
This series and I are so not for each other. But I have a physical copy of Champion, so... my pain isn't over.

Я уже сетовала на нежный возраст героев трилогии: в пятнадцать лет вести себя на двадцать пять — не очень органичная картина. Но приквел жестит еще больше: Дэй и Джун предстают двенадцатилетними, а поведение и характеры не меняются. Дэй, как и прежде, самый красивый бомж развалившихся Штатов, девчонки падают штабелями, забыв о том, что ребенок (а он как бы ребенок) не мыт и не душист, и какая-то старшая барышня заставляет его целоваться за банку консервов. Мальчонка уже утирает правительству нос и крут до невозможности. Тем временем Джун поступает в военную академию и поначалу ведет себя даже нормально, но затем становится ясно, что в теле маленькой девочки и каратэ-пацан, и гениальный ученый, и Мэрисья.
Мари Лу, добей меня полностью! Ведь впереди (зачем-то) купленный «Победитель».
